If you're considering whether to have them or not, the question should always be whether you're adding them instead of using heavier/more lasers or not, not whether or not they're replacing engine tonnage- it's simply not an equivalent exchange that way. SRMs on a QKD make a good supplemental weapon, particularly using 4-racks to get similar damage at a lower heat profile for longer combat and conserving laser fire for late battle, or alternately for sudden bursts of damage before retreating from a fight with slower heavy and assault machines. The 5K would have the added advantage of letting you faddle around with laser setups more, such as trading the MPLs for twice as many standard MLs and swapping the LLs for ERLLs for a dual alternate-fire build, or other such shenanigans. If you're taking advantage neither of the missiles nor the fifth-through-seventh jump jets, there's very little reason to use a non-K Quickdraw.įor your build, essentially lasers-only, the trade to a 5K means losing a little absolute torso range in exchange for much faster twisting, and losing some heat efficency and refire rate for reduced burn time and extended range- both of which will compensate quite neatly in the situations where Quickdraws are best- namely, sudden ambush-brawling and popping up in unexpected places only to vanish shortly after. By comparison, the 4H has a third missile hardpoint. The main thing to keep in mind is that the 4G has one non-quirk point of major note- it can mount seven jump jets for maximum thrust. The Longshot, mind, is a bit overdue for a rework, but still usable in its odd, quirky way. In regards to the G specifically, I use two builds, the QKD-4G Constance and the QKD-4G Longshot. When you can pull it off they are just about the most fun mechs in the game.Įdited by Bud Crue, 05 April 2016 - 03:57 AM. Spread that damage so you can get in close and let those SRMs do their work. No matter the G or the H or what size engine you select, when running an XL never stop running and jumping and twisting. So here I feel that I can run the 350 without a lot of sacrifice. Since I like the rapid fire offest nature of the combined SRM4 and 6, I add the Artemis and upgrade the lasers to MPLs so the G is my "slow" moving build with the 325 -but fast firing.ĭespite the lack of the missile cooldown quirk on the H (a mere 5%), the firing rate of SRM4s matches perfectly with that of the ML so your alpha is more uniform and still effective even without artemis (in exchange for extra heat sinks). I try not to play to the quirks, but that 30% cooldown for missiles on the G (even if it is just 2 SRM4s) just makes running SRMs hard to resist for me. The 330 (or in my preference the 325) lets you have the extra tonnage needed to add artemis and/or upgrade the ML to MPL. With either the H or G respective "standard" build of 4E-3M and 4E-2M you can run up to an XL 350 (or even max out to the 360) without much sacrifice. On the H (3 missile hps) you can do that, but not on the G (2 missile hps). Still, I think you can do 3 SRM 4 and 3 med pulse with a 330. I've been running xl 330 engines on mine, but my 4g is running lpl spam and not srms. I've had games where I've done over 700 damage, other games I've outflanked the enemy and drawn off some of the heavier mechs before doing a 180, worked recently in the snow city going through the caves.Įdited by Will Hawker, 31 March 2016 - 02:17 PM. It's probably not an optimal build but it's done well for me. I also use the range and cooldown mod for them a long with radar dep. I find the heat efficiency really manageable, most of the damage comes from using the large lasers. This is the load-out I've been running lately. Will, wondering what sacrifices you are making to get all that ordinance in there and/or what your heat efficiency is? To fit those LLs in are you just dropping JJs all together? Just curious. My thinking with the 6/4 SRM is to simply max that 30% cool down quirk to the extent possible. If I go with the 350 I sub out the MPL with ML and get an extra heat sink too. I know many consider more than 2 (or even 1) JJ a waste, but I like my QDs to be able to go truly vertical when I want so 4 tons "wasted". If the former I do 4MPL, an ASRM4 and an ASRM6, 2 tons ammo and 4JJ.
